Mission and History
Mission Statement
The Greater Kansas City Alumnae Association of Alpha Delta Pi strives to provide an atmosphere where friendships among sisters develop and grow; where community service is emphasized; where support for our collegiate chapters is a priority; and where varied programs maximize participation for our members.
History
Alpha Delta Pi got its beginnings in 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia when six bold women, led by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald formed The Adelphean Society for the "mental, moral, social and domestic improvement of its members". The Adelphean Society, later renamed Alpha Delta Pi, was the first secret society for women.
The Greater Kansas City Alumnae Association was founded in 1919 and has operated continuously since that time, holding monthly meetings, now supporting five collegiate chapters and emphasizing philanthropy projects, particularly those involving the Ronald McDonald House Charity of Kansas City and the TAKE Foundation (The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation).
